Miramar Golf Club boasts a rich and resilient history that is woven into the fabric of Wellington’s sporting identity.
The club was founded in 1905, with its first members playing on leased farmland in Karori. In 1909, the club moved to its current home on the Miramar peninsula, celebrating the opening with a gala carnival and special trams hired to bring guests from the city.
Over the following decades, Miramar flourished into one of New Zealand’s premier clubs. It has a prestigious tournament history, having hosted the New Zealand Open and the New Zealand PGA Championship twice each (1926 and 1939), as well as the New Zealand Amateur and Ladies’ Amateur.
The Miramar Golf Club has a strong, vibrant membership. The Green Giant putting green and The Short course can be booked by non-members.
